Lake Race Ushers in Summer Season06.15.18
It’s a been a long winter and with the weather finally turning, it is time to start thinking about summer and boating activities.
There’s no better way to kick off the season than at the annual Lake Race set for June 2, with lots of fun activities planned starting on May 31. Big Thunder Marine is proud to be the Title Sponsor for this year’s event, which features world-class powerboat racing on Lake Ozark. The race is sanctioned by the Offshore Powerboat Association.
“We couldn’t be happier to be a part of this great event,” Big Thunder general manager Jeremy Anderson noted when it was announced Big Thunder would be Title Sponsor. “Lake Race has been an important event for Lake of the Ozarks. Boaters from across the country participate and we are very excited for Lake Race. As we continue our state of fast growth at Big Thunder Marine, with a brand-new showroom opening soon, we’re focused on building our great team and we want to support and be a part of local events.”
Big Thunder Marine, one of the fastest growing marine brands of Lake of the Ozarks, is hosting a kickoff event on May 31, with the Lake Race Festival of Speed. You won’t want to miss the fast boats, cars, motorcycles and more.
It is a great way for the public to get up close and meet the racers who have arrived by May 31. Parking and race team staging will be located at the old Staples building, which is now under remodel construction for an additional Big Thunder showroom. There will be food snacks and beverages at the Big Thunder showroom on Bagnell Dam Blvd.
On the big race day, there will be a full schedule of racing with formats and demonstrations unique to Lake Race, beginning with Opening Ceremonies at 10:40 a.m. Racing begins promptly at 11 and continues until the heats are completed, around 5 p.m.
Don’t miss out on this great event. Unlimited public viewing will be available at Beavers at the Dam, on historic Bagnell Dam and at numerous other great locations surrounding the course.
When the races are complete, the public can head on over to Camden on the Lake to cheer on the drivers at the awards ceremony. Then the fun continues with the Lake Race After Party at Beavers on the Dam where entertainment will be provided at various venues, and the night is capped out with a spectacular fireworks display at dusk.
